hypocrite

well, why i'm putting hypocrite as the title for this entry??
because a few minutes ago, my bro-in-law asked me via YM about the meaning of this word. apparently, one of his friends said that he is hypocrite. he did not really understand the meaning,so he asked me today the definition of it.
i tried my best to explain it to him. but i think, he's probably upset by it.

my bro-in-law is a very shy man. since i got married, i think i've only spoken to him a few times. not that i do not want to talk to him, but he speak very little in front of people. but he is a different man when we chat via YM. i'm surprised.he 'talked' a lot when we chat.he can tell me everything via the net, but, person to person, he is as quiet as a mouse.
always being a good man i know, he's probably upset when someone he called friend told him that he is being hypocrite.

according to him, one of the ustazs who taught him said hypocrite carries the same meaning as Munafiq. honestly, i do not know. it seems that munafiq carries a much broader meaning...

i remember during my old days in MMP,we used to memorize the meaning of munafiq in arabic.i tried to recall the exact sentences(in arabic), but could not. with the help of a friend, here is the sentences in Arabic that we used to memorized in our school years;

iza hadatha kazaba,
waiza wa'ada akhlafa
waiza' tumina khana...

anyway, the meaning in english is as below(with the proper hadith):

According to Sahīh Bukhārī, the Prophet said, "Whoever has the following four (characteristics) will be a pure hypocrite and whoever has one of the following four characteristics will have one characteristic of hypocrisy unless and until he gives it up. 1. Whenever he is entrusted, he betrays. 2. Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie. 3. Whenever he makes a covenant, he proves treacherous. 4. Whenever he quarrels, he behaves in a very imprudent, evil and insulting manner."

honestly, his friend probably misunderstood him..i dont know the real situation. but he is a very good man in my opinion..
